Lina won't need that school uniform anymore ...

7:27am 16-Dec-09: Lina reaches a major milestone in her life. This morning she sits for the last paper of the SPM, Pengetahuan Syariah Islamiah. And this morning will be the last time she wears that school uniform.

When I ironed her uniform last night, I savored the moments. It has always been a labor of love ironing her school uniforms and her brother's. I missed the moments already ...

At Darul Quran JAKIM

11:49pm 15-Dec-09: We went to Darul Quran JAKIM on Monday, 15-Dec-09, together with Haji Hanifah and his son, Amin, in their car. With us in our car, we had Adibah, Ruby, and Hajar.

It was a good trip, although winding and undulating at the half-way point before Batang Kali, reaching to the height of 366 meters above sea level at the highest point. The undulating and winding road allowed a moving average of only 46.5 km/hr and max speed of 105 km/hr.

I'll have to figure out other route for the trip this Sunday, insya-Allah.

Darul Quran's officers treated us well. We met and had a long talk with Ust Buhairi, Haji Dashuki's photog friend.

Thank you so much to Haji Dashuki for his effort to arrange our meeting with Ust Buhairi; he even called us when we were in Darul Quran to ensure that things turn out ok. Haji Dashuki and family, a wonderful family, we know we can count on you all, all the time, insya-Allah.

The photo of the Masjid Darul Quran, with beautiful reflection, was creatively captured by Azhari. It was hot, really hot under the mid afternoon sun. I chose to stay under the shade. Looking at my reluctance to venture into the hot sun, Azhari asked to take the camera for a walk, searching for "the opportune angle," he said.

We had lunch in Giant Batu Caves on the way back.

Lina turns seventeen ...

11:30pm 13-Dec-09: Lina turns 17 by midnight. I wonder whether we can celebrate her 18 birthday together like this.

It was a wonderful 17 years, being with her in her tears and joys and watching her develops into a confident young lady.

She is leaving this Sunday, insya-Allah, to pursue her dream of becoming a hufadzah at Darul Quran JAKIM, Ampang Pechah, Kuala Kubu Baru. Eighteen months in Darul Quran then, insya-Allah, she will further her studies in International Islamic University Malaysia.

Oh! My little girl ...

Breakfast in Kpg Baru

2091212-1032_jun_lina

10:32am 12-Dec-09: If we're free on Saturday, we like to have our breakfast at Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur. It has a lot of eating places and variety of food. The only challenge is getting a convenient parking.

Today, since Lina has only two SPM papers left, Arabic and PSI, and she wants to "see the world", we have breakfast in Kampung Baru at our usual eating place. We love the roti canai at this place, crunchy and taste good. The best, Azhari claims. You can count on him when comes to Roti Canai. He has few favorite foods and Roti Canai is one of them.

Ustaz Din came visiting ...

3:16pm Saturday 5-Dec-09: Din (Ustaz Mokhtarudin) and family dropped by our house. The last time he came here he was studying part-time in UTM, a religious teacher, single, and rode a superbike—Ustaz the super biker!

The wife, we called Ida, a councillor, teaches at a secondary school in a Felda near Karak. Din teaches at a secondary religious school in Pelangai, near Karak too.

The talkative, sweet girl, Hanis, is almost four. She befriended us almost immediately. The cute boy, Hasyir, is one and a half years old. He observed us from a distance, from the safety of his mother’s arm. He only came to us to shake hand and let us kiss his cheek when he was about to leave.

Azhari in Marriott's robe

10:46pm Thursday 3-Dec-09: Azhari donning the shower robe. I think he looks good in it.

June has a function in Marriott Putrajaya started on Wednesday. She asked Azhari to accompany her. On Thursday, after Maghreb prayer, Lina and I joined them, slept the night, and came back home after Subuh prayer.

It was a good break for Lina. She sat for SPM’s Physics papers that Thursday.

Bio paper tomorrow ...

9:38pm Sunday 29-Nov-09: While waiting for food, Lina and Ruby discussed a topic in the Biology text book; the SPM Biology paper due the next day, Monday 30-Nov-09. The Biology exam consisted of three papers, a whole day event.

We call this eatery “restoran bawah pokok”. It is in Taman Melewar, close to the Markas Tarbiyah PAS. I won’t recommend it. Their service is lousy.

Taman Metropolitan Kepong

Dsc_6523

Woke up with a lingering headache and felt sluggish. Picked up the camera, put on running shoes, and drove to Taman Metropolitan, a 10 minutes drive on this quiet Saturday. I just brisk walked around the park; the camera bag made it uncomfortable to run. Surprisingly many people in the park, jogging and family outing. The cloudy sky provided nice backdrop. I took aim and shot once. (Pic taken on 28-Nov-09 at 9:04am)
